Advent Retreat On the first Saturday in Advent the Centering Prayer Group leads two (2) one-hour sessions that lecto-divino (sing of the scriptures), Taize music, readings and meditation.
Bishop Nicholas – One the Sunday following December 6 we are treated to a visit from Bishop Nicholas of Myra, the inspiration behind Santa Claus. His visit educated young and old as to his life and the origins of how we celebrate Christmas.
Christmas Eve:
4:00 p.m. - If spending an hour with
dozens of children under the age of eight sounds like your
idea of a nightmare, consider other Christmas Eve services.
But if you have small children or your own joy is kindled
by being with children, this is a good option. We sing a
few simple carols beginning at 3:40. Led by Grace Harmony.
In an unrehearsed Christmas pageant, the children bring
the characters forward filling the crèche.
9:00 p.m. - If you like the full festival
liturgy of the church but like to go to bed early or draw
the line at incense, this may be the service for you. It
has all the splendor and excitement of the full Christmas
liturgy, with the choir and a brass quartet. As always,
we invite you to come early. Caroling begins at 8:45.
Christmas Day:
10:00 a.m. - Despite the tradition
in the Episcopal Church of worshipping on Christmas Eve,
some of us like to celebrate on Christmas Day. Sleep in
a little, make waffles, and you'll still have time to get
dressed and come over for this full festival liturgy. If
you like a less crowded Christmas, this may be the service
for you.
